Today we’re participating in the Tour Through Blogland series, where we’ll be giving you a behind the scenes look at our homes and our work process.
Family Room Inspiration Board
Good morning! Sorry it’s been so quiet around here lately! We’ve been super busy getting into a back to school routine, but I promise we have lots of projects lined up to share with you! One of the projects I’m currently working on is decor for our family room. I tend to gravitate toward neutral colors and natural fabrics. I like the way they make a room feel clean, cozy and inviting. I thought I’d share my family room inspiration board with you, and next week we’ll be back with some DIY projects, some of which were pulled right from this board!
Cinnamon-Applesauce Pancake Poppers
Now that we’re gearing up for back to school, we’ve been trying to come up with ideas for making our morning routine less hectic. Having healthy, grab and go breakfasts are a must! I came up with this recipe for cinnamon-applesauce pancake poppers that can be made ahead and frozen. Just pop a few in the microwave or oven and you have a quick and filling breakfast. You can dip them in syrup or apple butter, but my kids even like them plain. They’re packed with healthy ingredients like oats and applesauce to help keep you full until lunchtime.
Homemade Taco Seasoning
A couple years ago, we started cleaning up our pantry and paying more attention to the ingredients in our food. Don’t get me wrong, we still eat junk food on occasion, but in general I like to keep processed foods and chemicals to a minimum. One of the first things in my kitchen to go was the prepackaged spice packets. I have to admit I was a bit intimidated to create my own spice mixes in the beginning, but now that I’ve tried it I’ll never go back to store bought packets!
School Year Memory Book
We’re so excited to be participating in a Back To School Blog Hop, put together by our friends at Elizabeth Joan Designs! Stick around til the end of the post for links to more great projects!
Last year was Sam’s first year of preschool. I saved a bunch of his artwork and pictures that were taken throughout the year…and they’re all still sitting in a box. My follow through is less than desired when it comes to doing something with all the pictures I take. I don’t want to leave these keepsakes in the box, so I definitely needed a better way to stay on top of it all.
Vintage Airplane Bedroom
I’m so excited to share Sam’s vintage airplane bedroom makeover with you today! Sam is four years old, and I wanted something that was appropriate for his age but not childish, so he would be able to grow with it. He chose the airplane theme and we went from there.
