February 14, 2014

DIY Gift card holder made from a toilet paper roll canarystreetcrafts.com

Aren’t these handmade gift card holders cute?  We made them both in under 20 minutes.  And you’ll never believe what they’re made from…

Empty toilet paper rolls!  A flattened empty toilet paper roll is the perfect size to hold a gift card!  So start saving your empty rolls.  When you see how easy these are to make, you’ll never give a gift card any other way.

(The supply list below contains affiliate links.  For more information, click here.)

You will need:

Empty toilet paper roll(s)

Scrapbook paper (The pink paper we used is from this Teresa Collins Summer Stories pad, and the green chevron paper is from My Mind’s Eye .)

Ribbon, and any other embellishments you want to use to dress it up

Glue (we used this Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive)

We also used this 1″ EK tools circle punch to create the cut out at the opening of the holder.

Flatten your toilet paper roll with the palm of your hand.  Cut your scrapbook paper so it’s long enough to wrap all the way around the roll, and just a bit wider, then glue the paper to the outside of the roll.

Glue one end of the roll closed to seal it.  If you’re using a punch, cut a half-circle in the open end of your holder.  Use ribbons, flowers, buttons, etc to decorate.  Once you’ve put a gift card inside, you can leave it as is, or if you’re afraid the gift card might fall out, you can put a dab of glue on either side of your half-circle cut out to seal it closed.  And there you have it!  A simple, cute, one-of-a-kind gift card holder.
