This cute little French provincial side table was a quick makeover that my mom, Vicki, painted. When we saw this table sitting in the thrift store we thought those recessed drawer fronts looked like the perfect little frames to do something fun.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any before pics of this piece. Sometimes when we’re trying to knock out a bunch of pieces at once we forgot to stop and take photos. I promise you weren’t missing much, though. Think brown and kinda boring.
She started by giving the piece a thorough cleaning, then a couple coats of Annie Sloan “Old White” chalk paint. Next, she did a wash using Annie Sloan “Cocoa” chalk paint. You can read full instructions for how to do a wash in this post. Up close you can see how the Cocoa paint got into all the details and created a really pretty look that made all the details pop.
We decoupaged fabric onto the drawer fronts using mod podge. We found the fabric at JoAnn’s, and the knobs are from Hobby Lobby. To read more about how to decoupage fabric onto furniture, read this tutorial.
We lightly distressed the painted areas with a sanding block, then sealed it with a couple coats of our favorite sealer.
What do you think? This piece is currently for sale in our booth. Thanks so much for stopping by!
