Here is a last minute easy DIY shabby chic Christmas garland I made with a light strand and an old curtain. I know Christmas is 13 days away, but believe it or not I’m still finding extra touches to add to my decorations. I added a light string to the table below my television and I love the lights at night. But every night I look at that blank strand of lights and I think about what I could add to dress it up and give it a shabby chic feel.
I’ve looked at all the garland strands in the stores when we go shopping and nothing fit the bill. Then one day I decided to cut up and old curtain into strips and tie the strips around the wire between each bulb.
Don’t make yourself crazy about making the strips perfect in length or width. Once you tie them to the strand you can’t tell at all. Once I had a section between bulbs done I kind of turned each piece so they weren’t all facing the same direction. I love the look, and the fraying of the fabric just adds to the shabby chic look.
Once I covered the whole light strand with the ties, I added some pearl ornaments I had. I have to say this was exactly what I was looking for. I really love the whole look this created.
