Hello! We’re Vicki and Amy, the mother/daughter team behind Canary Street Crafts! On our blog you’ll find furniture makeovers, DIY projects, thrift store up cycles and crafts.
How We Got Started
In early 2014, I (Amy) decided to stay home with my kids full time. I had been working as firefighter and paramedic for 13 years. My husband is also a firefighter (for a different department) and between our crazy schedules and 24-hour shifts, I felt like our kids were with my parents more than they were with us. After a lot of thought, we made the decision for me to stay home full time.
My mom (Vicki) was already retired, and since we live just a few minutes from each other, we spend a ton of time together. We decided to start our blog on a whim with absolutely no idea how to run a website. Now it’s something we work on together every week, and we even sell our furniture makeovers in a local antique mall.
We’re so happy you’ve stumbled onto our blog and we hope you’ll decide to hang out for a while.

Where did you find the little felt hats for the snowman craft using the pint size canning jar and the plastic ornament?
Canary Street Crafts (Amy) says
Hi Diane, we found the snowman hat at JoAnn’s. Here’s a link to it: http://www.joann.com/darice-stiffened-felt-top-hat-3in-black/10233120.html#q=felt+hat&start=1

Hi Amy and Vicki, thanks for commenting on my site and letting me know about Your Turn to Shine. I’m a new blogger and am shocked by the number of wonderful blogs available. Your painted furniture pieces are gorgeous, and I love that you are a mother/daughter team! I’ll be sure to add your site to my regular viewing list!

Thank you so much, Donna! I’m so glad you stopped by. I would not have guessed you’re a new blogger! Your projects are gorgeous and well photographed, unlike our first few months of blogging (aka hot mess!!). Do you have any social media pages set up? If so I’d love to follow you there. I took a quick look around your blog and didn’t see any but I may have missed them. Take care!!

Thanks Amy! I recently set up Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, but I still can’t figure out how to get the buttons on my WordPress blog. However, there are FB and Instagram feeds visible on my blog when you click on the menu button on the top right. I also have Pinterest but only just started pinning things. I would love a new follower, as I’m having a difficult time finding an audience! Now I’m off to decide what post to share in your link party….

I am new at painting furniture and recently purchased my first “victim”. I have learned so much from your pages and I thank you. I am bursting with ideas and can’t wait to get painting! Blogs, Facebook, Etsy……it is a bit overwhelming but can’t wait to get to that point.
